"Traveling Mercies"

If you run in "Church-y" circles, you've heard this term many times. If you haven't, it's usually in the form of a prayer request: "We are leaving on vacation tomorrow, traveling mercies." I've always heard it, and requested them for myself and my family. But I never really thought about what it meant until Saturday, on the way back from NC when this happened:

If you've never experienced a blowout, it's a little bit scary :) Especially barreling down the interstate at 70mph! But, as I mentioned, we had prayed for "Traveling Mercies"...our families had prayed for "Traveling Mercies"...our church family had prayed for "Traveling Mercies"...and we indeed experienced "Traveling Mercies"!! In a situation that could have been so tragic - high speeds, mountain roads, weather - there was so much potential for damage to people and property. We experienced no losses, well, other than my tire! LOL
When I think about the mountain we had just come down from, the traffic, the embankments we had passed, the steep grades - well, you get the idea. Like I said, "Traveling Mercies"...God is faithful when His people pray. I will not take His mercy for granted anytime soon.

Thanks to my traveling companions who helped me figure out how to get the spare out from under the truck (it had never even been removed in the 6 years I've had it!), and to L who did most of the work changing it. (And to S, who evidently is the best one out of the 10 of us at reading diagrams!) The remainder of the trip was pretty uneventful. Well, we did take one small detour, but it didn't take us too long to figure it out LOL
Of course, we had NO problem following some signs... ;o)

Whew! God definitely protected us!Scott looked at the tire today and found a nail in it. Looks like that was why the air pressure was low.

You were truly blessed.

I hope when you visited Cracker Barrel you had a better experience than we did at our visit to our local Cracker Barrel last night. Our waitress was a true blonde and I try to overlook young ones trying to make a paycheck but she was dumber than dumb. I ordered a salad with no bacon which she said she could do. I also ordered water with lemon. My husband ordered chicken and dumplings, pintos, mac and cheese, baked apples, biscuits, apple butter and coffee with cream. Twenty minutes after we were sitting there she finally brought my water with NO LEMON and the coffee pot but forgot the cup. She finally came back with the cup and coffee pot but no cream. After sitting there 35 minutes she finally brought out our food. I still did not have my lemon and my salad had bacon on it. My husband got all he ordered except the cream for his coffee, and the apple butter. She took my salad back and finally came back with the cream for my husbands coffee but had still forgot my lemon. Finally my salad came out and my lemon. We then reminded her about the apple butter. I said, "You are a true blonde aren't you?" She smiled and proudly nodded her head yes. My husband laughed and said, "She took that as a compliment." I would not let my husband leave her a tip. If a tip was given I think she would have owed us one.

We were at the Cracker barrel in Pooler, it was excellent. There were 10 of us and he got everything right. :) I have had experiences like yours though, it's enough to ruin your appetite.
