Surgical Procedure

Had one yesterday, went well, I'm home. Sore and drugged :) This was a tiny, tiny little flower growing in the parking lot at the hospital. I saw it by my car when I went in for pre-op blood work. It's smaller than the tip of my pinky. :) No matter what's going on in life, you have to find the joy.

The Birds and the Bees

and the butterflies were very busy at the park today :)

Graduation

And the big day finally came :) I can't believe I am the mother of a high school graduate. Time flies. Look at that smile - he was ready.
In a class of more than 500, he was a little more than halfway back. I was surprised though, they had two people reading names so it went pretty quick.
A sea of blue mortarboards...
and he's up and on his way!
Handshake of congrats from Principal Asplen...

and he heads back to his seat proudly, with diploma in hand. Congratulations, we're so very proud of you :)

Sunday, and Senior recognition

I have to share this, my oldest son graduated from high school last Friday night. Our church always has Senior recognition for our graduates which was a week ago Sunday. I got to church (late, remember we got home at 4am the night before) with my son's cap and gown. Imagine my dismay when he showed up in FLIP FLOPS!!! I wanted to wring his neck, but we WERE at church, after all. So instead, I went around to the men I know well (well enough to borrow footwear anyway) and tried to find someone with the right size feet and the right size sense of humor.
Bingo!! With Mrs. Patsy's help, we commandeered the dress shoes (and socks) off Mr. Jim, who TRULY has a good-sized sense of humor. He has always been one of my most favorite people, but he secured his place in my heart forever (as did Mrs Patsy - the vision of her taking his dress shoes and socks off of him, DURING Sunday school while his class looked on, will go down in history!) by his willingness to sport around in Mikell's flops during church :)
Crisis averted :) He marched down the center aisle to "Pomp and Circumstance" with no toes visible.
And Seniors were recognized without incident :)

Jim and Patsy Harrison, YOU ROCK!! :)

Road Trip

Ok, catch up time :) A week ago Saturday, we took a little trip to a place called MIAMI...took our lives in our hands, is what we did.

This highway here is the BIGGEST joke in Florida, IMO. It is the "Florida Turnpike"...and our google directions told us to take it. It is a toll road, and it cost us $7.00 to travel on it. The kicker is that you can SEE Interstate 95 from the FL turnpike - which is a FREE highway...oh well, live and learn, right?
I guess since they rake in so much moolah, they can afford these nifty decorative noise-barrier walls. Ours here in town don't have any birds on them...
and all to pick up this for my husband -
isn't it cute? And it gets a lot better gas mileage. Mission accomplished! We got home at 4am. And yes...we had RJ with us and he did great :)
