Amazingness everywhere

It was like God knew (what am I saying, of COURSE He knew! He knows everything) that I needed something to lift my spirits after the last couple of days, so he put things in my path every so often today that made me smile. First, no pictures, but RJ was just a riot today. He made me really laugh out loud several times today, and I needed that. He was also especially sweet today, for a 3 year old boy :) This afternoon, he grabbed me around the neck, pressed his little cheek to mine, and said "Mommy, you're my sweetie!" *Sigh* :)

Second, I dropped my eldest off at work, and then my daughter and I went by to pick up her cousin to come hang out for the afternoon. These baby raccoons were nosing around her driveway (which is extremely long and goes through the woods). They were SO cute, and not even remotely scared of me. They let me get pretty close...
This pic is kind of blurry, but I couldn't resist it as they waddled away, side by side :)
Then we took a "detour" to our favorite park to see what was happenin'...quite a bit! Monarch caterpillars...
and Monarchs FORMERLY known as caterpillars...this one had just emerged from its cocoon! I saw it just kind of hanging there in a non-butterfly like manner, so I took a closer look. It hadn't been out long, it was still hanging on to the top of the cocoon, and it was still wet.
I watched it for a good while, it would slowly fan its wings every now and then, and then it suddenly fluttered to the ground. This is probably the only time I will see such a perfect butterfly, right off the showroom floor, so to speak. No scuffs, no torn wings, just a perfect "baby" butterfly. :)
I couldn't resist, I held my hand down to it and it climbed right on up! Like I said, amazingness was everywhere today :)

And totally unrelated, just a Buckeye who decided to pose pretty for me :)
God is good, All the time :)

omg! what a mystical, magical, gorgeous day!!! thanks for sharing it with us!

(the caterpillar/butterfly/cocoon part strikes me right now, as i'm reading _when the heart waits_, by sue monk kidd, and she uses the cocoon as a symbol throughout the book.)

one more thing -- your post calls to mind the mary oliver poem in which she describes sitting in a field for hours and having a deer walk up to her and lick her hand. breathtaking, soulgrabbing beauty and wonder.

It is amazing how nature and children reflect so much of God's love and beauty. May God continue to reveal Himself to you today!

Lovely thoughts and shots! I love butterflies and flowers.

Inspired by your blog I guess . . . I bought my husband a new digital camera for his birthday. He really likes having and taking pictures of his family at every event, but I will probably be the one taking the pictures. So it's as much for me as him!

Oh wow! What a blessing, and what perfect timing! Praise God!

Sorry to hear about your little pal. I have never felt such a strong connection with my pets. My wife has, though. She still compares every dog to her "Muffin."
