D-Now
Stands for "Disciple Now". Our church is sponsoring a discipleship training weekend for our youth group. They meet for activities and bible study, and then go to individual homes for small group time. We are a host home. :) So I have a houseful of teenagers, which is not unlike any other day of the week. Except that these are all girls. And they're not my offspring. :) My offspring are in some other host homes, and I hope they are behaving at least HALF as good as these girls are. :) These will be with us again tonight. Here they are having one of their sessions late last night:

Blast From the Past Part Deux
I have not seen so many board games since I don't know when. It was funny, my cries of "Oooh!! I remember that!!" and "ooh, my brother had that one!" amidst my kids confused looks and "what's that?" :) Needless to say, we will be having a game night soon. We'll see how they fare with games that are not hooked to an electrical outlet.

Trip to the Park
Proud as a
My brother owns a house out in the "country". He let us rent it (I use that term loosely, since he gave us the family discount) from him while our house was being built. There are about 25-30 peacocks that share the area, it was quite interesting. Especially since it was springtime and therefore mating season when we first moved in! We learned a lot about peacocks and their strange ways, and collected a lot of feathers. Augie Dog was kind enough to chase one down and gather me about 20 of them one morning, but that's a different story. :) Let's just say there were several mornings where I was in fear of losing a little dog, who seemed to be determined to sail away, hanging from a set of tail feathers!

Blast from the Past
I have said before what a job it has been going through my father in law's house. It has been physically and emotionally difficult at times. But there are treasures to be found:
He was always buying things like this, this is a replica of an old-timey record player, but it also plays cd's and tapes. I played Elvis singing "Old Shep" for my kids to see if it made them cry like it did me. *sigh* nope. Kids are tough these days I guess. It was funny explaining to my 13 yo son how to play a record. He asked me how to fast forward! LOL
I also tried turning my kids on to the joy of Jerry Clower...no success. I guess when you have to stop to explain what "dungarees" are and things like that, it loses something. Like when my sister and I tried to share Lily Tomlin's "Edith Ann" character with the kids. They just don't get it. :( I guess if it's not jumping out of a screen at you in high resolution and 32 bit color, they just can't get a grip on it.

ook, Fwag!!!
We were at the mini storage place yesterday, we have been cleaning out FIL's house to get it ready to rent. It's amazing what can be accumulated over a lifetime. And in FIL's case, he was a veritable pack rat. Fred Sanford ain't got NOTHIN' on MP!! It's like a 1200 sq ft time capsule. A lot of work, but kind of fascinating at the same time. Luckily, (and thankfully due to the help of family and friends) the end is in sight. :)

Celebrations
Today was a baby shower for a dear family friend I've known almost my whole life, and definitely all of hers. I remember when her parents found out they were having HER...and now she's having her own. :) (don't get me wrong, I was VERY YOUNG when she was born...VERY...but I remember)
And this is one of my most favorite people...isn't she Sweet??? ;o)

Dr. Schnipper
We both had follow up appointments this morning from our lasik surgery a few months ago.
This is Dr. Schnipper:
Thanks to this man, both Rory and I were able to throw away our glasses and contacts. To know how big a deal that is for us, we have both worn glasses and/or contacts since around 3rd grade. That's almost 30 years to you and me!

Before the surgery, my eyesight was around 20/400. Now it's 20/15. Rory's vision was a little better than mine, but he is also 20/15 now. Can't beat that!!
RJ was very fascinated by it all, as with everything else...
