Wild Blue Yonder

We went to the "Jacksonville Sea & Sky Spectacular" yesterday afternoon. Our aim was to see the US Navy "Blue Angels" flight demonstration squadron. They were due to fly at 2pm, and we were sitting in HEAVY beach traffic at 1:45. Parking was crazy, most businesses were charging $20 to park, and traffic was very annoying to say the least. We were very blessed though...just as my sister was about to go into conniptions and was waving a $20 bill around, we spotted a lot - with no attendant - and a very poorly written sign stating that parking was $20.00. There was one spot left, we jumped on it. :) We were one block from the beach, and ended up in a perfect position to see it ALL!

RJ loved the airplanes, except when they buzzed right over our heads. It was pretty loud, he didn't care too much for that part. :) I felt kind of guilty, being from an Air Force family and all (should have been watching the Thunderbirds) :) But RJ's other Granddaddy was a Navy man, so I guess it's Ok that I enjoyed it as much as I did. ;o)

I really enjoy a good air show. But THIS one really, REALLY enjoys it :)
PS: Yes I did really take these pictures, and yes the sky really was that blue. :) These aren't enhanced or edited in any way other than some cropping. You can see the rest on my flickr. My Sister, Debbie365, got some great shots too, probably better than these because she had a good zoom. You can see them on her blog as well, I'm going to check now. :)

Bald Eagle

Not a good picture at all, but it was COOL!! There was two of them, I was at the river and the wind was fierce. They would fly against the wind like they were in slow motion, and then circle around with the wind and really go. I wonder if they have a nest somewhere in the park?
Then the sun set...
And I went home happy. The river has that effect. :)

Ohhh...give me strength!!

"I will not eat the baby's candy...I will not eat the baby's candy..."!!!!

Ok...I'll be honest and say "I will not eat any MORE of the baby's candy..." ;o)

Happy Birthday Baby Will :)

That's what we used to call him :) He was my baby for 11 years, until RJ came along. (He's still my baby though, they all are) He is 14 today. Wow, once again...where does the time go?? Here are some of my favorite pictures of him. This is when he was about 8 months old:

This picture has a hilarious story behind it, I wish I could share them all. It was Easter Sunday, and he did NOT want his picture taken. I have several other pictures of him making faces, hiding behind a bush, and squatting down into a little ball, trying not to be noticed. We finally got him to laugh, which is this one...
6th birthday, when the skateboard obsession began :)
Batman for Halloween...
6th birthday present...
at the zoo. I have him and brother and sister posing on this same statue at different ages.
Relaxing at Papa and Grannie's house...

Baptism...

Tubing at the family reunion. They all love to go to this reunion. They have a blast tubing with their cousins.

Just a few weeks ago. (It was a picture for his myspace, hence the "serious" look)

Happy Birthday, Baby Will. No matter how old you get, you will still be my baby. :)

Creative Endeavour

Definitely not Rembrandt or Picasso, but this is what I did today. It's not finished yet, but I put a good dent in the project. It's part of our booth for the Harvest Festival. Our church has this each year on Halloween as a safe alternative to trick-or-treating. :) Each Sunday School department has a booth where the kids can play games and get candy. We actually have two this year, we are also running the hayride.
This is our flag out front, I took it as I was leaving the church tonight at about 9pm. This is one of those pics that doesn't truly capture what you see. It looks pretty cool with the light shining on it.

Once in a Great While...

a company does it right. :) Today's picture is more of a documentary-type than an artistic one. My 2 year old son is an absolute fanatic about trains. Every time we pass the train tracks (which is multiple times per week) we have to look down the tracks to see if a train is coming. If one is, and time permits, we stop and watch it go by. It's the highlight of his day when we catch one. I thought to email CSX and ask them for train schedules. EXACTLY 2 days after I contacted them, we got a box in the mail. It contained this CSX conductor cap and a glossy 8x10 of one of their engines. It also had a letter explaining that due to safety issues they can't give out schedule information. I completely understand that, but I am tickled to death that they thought enough of their pint-sized fan to send him a gift. It made his day, and mine too! :)

Turtle, Turtle!

"Am I not turtley enough for the turtle club? Turtle, turtle, turtle! " ~ Pistachio Disguisey

Will found this little guy while raking the yard. Luckily, he noticed before he raked him that he wasn't a leaf :)
You lookin' at me??
My internet search tells me he is probably an Ornate Box Turtle. We found one for sale for $160!! And ours was free! :) We are going to take him out away from busy roads and set him free though. Just keeping him long enough for his photo shoot, and for RJ to get to watch him for a while...

Fall Color in Florida

Yes, I actually found some colorful fall leaves today. :)
And I thought of Mike, who showed us what Moss looks like across the pond. This is what it is to Floridians :) Not nearly as pretty and colorful, but it has its own charm.

Mama's Punkin

Dames Point Bridge

I had a party to go to last night at a friend's house and had to cross this bridge. Since I was early and RJ-less, I took my time so I could take some pics. I found a park at the foot of the bridge...who knew? I was driving around looking for a good place to get the shots I wanted. It's all industrial and there's a Gypsum Company and there's dump trucks coming and going. And in the middle of it all, a park! :)

I have learned more about where I live since I started this 365 business. It's cool. :)

Herbie

Ok, here's the reason...

I told you I would share with you why I decorated for Halloween, when I normally don't. My brother shot a promo for our church's Harvest Festival, and RJ was in it, and it was shot at my house and so I had to put up the scary stuff. :) Here it is: Halloween promo

RJ is the dalmatian, and his friend is Tigger. My 13 yr old son is the scary dude in the mask. :)
