Having a Teenage Son With a Job
Has its advantages. :) My oldest has been working hard for a few months now, and he said when he first got the job that he was going to buy me an Ipod. I protested for a while, but he finally wore me down. "Mom, I've never bought you a birthday or Christmas present, so this is for all that". I have to say, I'm liking it. A lot. :) Especially since one of my good friends and I are planning on doing the Breast Cancer walk next year. This will help with getting ready for that quite a bit.

Grandpa John's Camera
This was my Grandfather's camera. It's an Argus C3 and he bought it over in Korea in the 50's. From what we read, it was a very popular camera, manufactured from 1939 to 1966, and holds the record for most units sold. It is nicknamed "The Brick", and aptly so. It weighs a ton more than my camera, and is about the same size as a brick. My brother (who is an absolute camera nut) could not wait to see what kind of pictures it took. He loaded it up with film yesterday afternoon and took some shots. Then he promptly took off for Ritz Camera to have them developed. :) You can see them HERE
Photography is COOL. :) Especially when you can share the interest with your family and friends.

Feed Me!
They are growing fast, we read up on them yesterday and found out they are only going to be in the nest for around 12 days. Seems impossible that these scrawny, naked things will be leaving the nest or "fledging" that soon!
I don't know if one is weaker than the others, but you can usually only see two. They are piled on top of him/her and he doesn't raise up as much as the other two. Mom got some really good pics of the three of them with their beaks open yesterday. We need to set HER up with a blog to show them off, since the whole family is doing it now. ;)
Fascinating to watch. :)

Until next year...
Last day of VBS was today. A lot of preparation went into it, and it was a big success. The kids had a great time. (teachers did too)
Now we're ready for a nap.
*Mikell says he wasn't asleep...I knew he was because his ipod was plugged into the tape player, and it just played on through. Usually he flits from song to song like a hummingbird.
Now we're ready for a nap.

Hey everybody, have you heard...Papa's gonna buy me a mockingbird
Ok, not really. But he does have a nest in his yard that I took pictures of. Mom told me that she found a mockingbird nest in one of her bushes. She actually saw some twigs, pulled them out and unknowingly destroyed the nest. She realized what she'd done when she saw them frantically rebuilding :)
Here's Dad I think, watching over it. The nest is in the bush to the right:
Here's both parental units keeping a watch
And poking a head in to make sure I didn't do any more than take pictures...

Promise
This is the token of the covenant which
I make between me and you and
I make between me and you and
every living creature that is with you,
for perpetual generations: I do set my
for perpetual generations: I do set my
bow in the cloud, and it shall be for
a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
And it shall come to pass,
a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
And it shall come to pass,
when I bring a cloud over the earth,
that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
And I will remember my covenant,
which is between me and you and
which is between me and you and
every living creature of all flesh;
and the waters shall no more
and the waters shall no more
become a flood to destroy all flesh.
And the bow shall be in the cloud;
And the bow shall be in the cloud;
and I will look upon it, that I may
remember the everlasting covenant
remember the everlasting covenant
between God and every living creature
of all flesh that is upon the earth.
of all flesh that is upon the earth.
And God said unto Noah,
This is the token of the covenant,
This is the token of the covenant,
which I have established between
me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

Fishing Buddies
Will has had a friend spend the night with us the last two nights. They wanted to fish, so first they went to the lake close to the house:
Nothing happened there, so I promised we could go to a park with a dock the next afternoon.
Still no fish, but they had fun trying.
After some thunderstorms earlier, it turned out to be a beautiful day.
RJ is happy no matter where we go, as long as he is right in the middle of everything :)

Orthodontia
Found out today that the Divine Miss M "may" get her braces off in as little as TWO MORE WEEKS!!!
I love the expression on her face. It's like "I'm anywhere else but here, lying with my head in a man's lap while he puts his fingers and instruments of torture into my mouth...he is kind of cute though"
;o)

Send It On Down
More rain today, thank God. It's got this Kirk Franklin song stuck in my head.

(of course, I don't know what I would do if I found it raining men in their underwear and geeky striped tube socks. Maybe it was different in 1982 ;)

Send it on down
Send it on down
Send your rain down
We need to feel some holy drops from Heaven,
Lord we are willing to go through and through
Shower down a blessing on your people
Lord we need you to shower down a blessing on us.
Were waiting here for a blessing
Let it rain down on me
We need need to feel your anointing
Let it fall fresh on me.
Its Raining
Its Raining
Its Raining...
(Of course, it also makes me think of this song, heehee)
